“If you have a task or goal, put all your effort into being the best, going the extra mile, and being passionate about what you do so that no one can discriminate against you.”

This is what the General Manager of one of the best hotels in the Baltics, Hotel PACAI (Vilnius), Rūta Pulkauninkaitė-Macikė says. We talked to her about what it means to be a successful businesswoman and how to maintain her private life and care for her family. This article is one of a series that helps to inspire women to strive for the highest goals in their careers.

You run one of the best hotels in the Baltics. How did you get this position? What were your most important career points before that?

I have been working in the hospitality industry for 20 years. Before Hotel PACAI, I managed 2 other hotels in Vilnius. I believe I got the position because of my passion for hospitality and service.

If you had to characterise yourself, what are your greatest strengths?

I love arguments and discussions, but at the same time I am good listener and this is important when you want to create an independent team in which everyone is equal.
